Wills:

Why should I make a Will?
- Dying with a Will in place ensures that only your chosen beneficiaries will benefit from your estate. Without a Will you die intestate and set rules apply which may not be what you wanted. Having a Will means you can choose who administers your estate, who you have as guardians for your children, who benefits from your estate, and if you have a spouse stopping side ways inheritance if the survivor remarries.
What will happen to my estate if I die without a Will?
- If you die without a Will there are set rules that apply that may not be what you would have wanted. Therefore some family members, friends or charities that you may wish to inherit from your estate may receive nothing.
How often should I have my Will reviewed?
- We recommend that our clients review their Wills every couple of years, certain events can have a significant impact on your wishes such as getting married or divorced, moving house, having your first child or additional children, retirement and other events.
Who will store my Will?
- We offer a secure storage facility which most of our clients take advantage of. Your legal documents will be stored safely in fireproof cabinets at our head office in Norwich. You can, of course store your Will yourself, but this is not recommended.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA):

Why should I make a Lasting Power of Attorney?
- People are living longer and are more likely to suffer incapacity during their lifetime, having these documents allows you to nominate people you trust to deal with your health and financial matters while you are alive. These documents only have power once they are registered which can be done now or in the future.
What are the different types of Lasting Powers of Attorney?
- A Lasting Power of Attorney comes in two forms - Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare. These protect you while you are alive should you become incapacitated through accident or illness.
What happens if I don't have a Lasting Power of Attorney and I lose mental capacity?
- If this happens, no one has authority to make decisions on your behalf. This means you will not be able to sell your house, pay your bills, renew a mortgage or rental agreement. Medical treatments will be under the control of people you may not know.

Trusts:

What are they and how do they work?
- There are a variety of Trusts which can be created while you are alive or via your Will on death. Trusts protect your assets for your chosen beneficiaries, and make it less likely that your wishes will be challenged.
Why should I consider having a Trust?
- Trusts are available for a variety of circumstances, such as remarriage protection, inheritance planning, and protection of inheritance for vulnerable beneficiaries.

What is a pre-paid funeral plan?
- A pre-paid funeral plan is paying for your funeral in advance saving your family from what otherwise would be an unavoidable cost.
Why should I consider having a pre-paid funeral plan?
- With funeral costs rising faster than savings it makes sense to pay now and protect your loved ones from additional costs in the future.
